Hall Bath: Finish Selections

This bathroom came together so easily and I’m thrilled with the outcome. It’s an example of how sometimes it pays not to overthink it.
I wanted to stay as true to the original design as possible. The original bathroom featured white one inch hexagon tiles on the floor and white subway tile in the traditional three inch by six inch size on the wall. But, I didn’t really want an all white bathroom. So, we went with one inch marble hex on the floor with the three by six white subway tile on the wall.
We worked with a local Design/Build firm and I fell in love with this cabinet color (Perfect Beige via our cabinet maker Crystal Cabinets) paired with marble in their showroom. I just love mixing brown and grey. The color didn’t suit our kitchen and I really wanted a wood vanity in our primary bath, so I decided to use it in the hall bath.
To maintain consistency throughout the house, I continued with polished nickel plumbing fixtures and brass lighting plus hardware. I find that polished nickel plumbing fixtures are easier to find on a budget. Brass plumbing fixtures really vary in finish brand to brand and I find the more budget friendly options from Delta or Kohler aren’t my favorite.
I love to incorporate an oval shape where possible (we have an oval coffee table, dining table, hall mirror, etc) and planned to so so with both the mirror and hardware. In the reveal photos, you’ll see the mirror (and wallpaper) changed, but the oval knobs really do make a statement.
Of course the big upgrades in this space are behind the walls: a plumbed shower, AC, and and outlet. Here’s to a fully functioning hall bath!
